How Southern California food manufacturers can grow with a local cold storage partner

Winning a new retail account is good news. Then the first order arrives. A dairy might make a full production run of yogurt on Monday, while two distribution centers each want a different mix of flavors, in different quantities, on different days. Where does the product stay cold, and who gets the right cases ready for each pickup?

That’s the kind of work we do at West Coast Cold Storage in Jurupa Valley. We provide refrigerated and frozen warehousing, pick orders by the case and prepare shipments for one destination or several.

Room for a growing food manufacturer

For a local food manufacturer, one of the hardest parts of growing is that warehouse needs can change with a single account. Your production cooler may have served you well until a new buyer asked for twice-weekly pickups or a mix of products on each pallet.

We can receive a production run, hold it at the required temperature and pick the cases each destination ordered. That gives a growing business a way to take on more complex orders before it can justify building a warehouse or hiring its own distribution team. It’s one of the ways WCCS serves as an incubator for Southern California food manufacturers.

A Southern California hub for brands shipping into the region

If you make your product outside California, the challenge looks a little different. You may want to send one inbound load to Southern California, then fill several regional orders from that inventory. Our Inland Empire facility offers chilled storage at 34–36°F, freezer storage at −10°F and temperature-controlled loading docks near the 60 and 10 freeways. We can hold inventory for later orders or cross-dock product that’s ready to move on.

Choosing a warehouse also means answering to your quality team. In August 2025, WCCS recorded its fourth consecutive Safe Quality Food audit score above 90. If you’re evaluating us for a particular product or retail program, we welcome that conversation early. Read about our SQF results

Whether you’re planning your first regional order or looking for a Southern California base for an established brand, tell us what you make, the temperature it needs, your approximate pallet count and how your buyers order. Those details help our team work through what receiving, storage and pickup would look like for you. Request a cold storage quote
